HISTORICAL RESEARCH

Do you have a fascination with the past, and the people who lived there?

It is now possible to find out more about our predecessors than was ever possible thanks to digitisation of records, from Victorian newspapers to genealogical archives. But you need to know where to look, how to interpret the information, and be able to turn the facts into a story.

Andy Mitchell has a special interest in our sporting past, writing extensively about historic heroes (and villains), uncovering stories that had been lost for generations. He is a research consultant to the FIFA World Football Museum, sits on the Board of the Museum of International Rugby, and is on the selection panel for the Scottish Sports Hall of Fame.

If you are researching the history of an organisation, a personality or even your family, he may be able to help - not just in finding out the 'who, where and when', but turning the discoveries into a fascinating article, a television feature or even a book.
